jessica and i went to a jewelry store on saturday. no serious plans, just some
time to kill on a saturday. i found out what size ring she wore and what kind
of rings she likes. i called monday morning and told the jeweler to mount a
ring for me. i was told it would be ready on wednesday. no plans of when or
how to ask had yet been developed. by the time the ring was ready, i had decided
i didn't want to wait any longer than i had to. there was a girl to be proposed
to and a radio show on which to do it...

every wednesday night i host a radio show called "in the hands of a half
asian" on 88.3 wmts. ryan has been known to make an appearance now and
then. on this particular wednesday i wasn't feeling up to doing my radio show
and had plans to end it an hour early. when it came close to 9pm (the time i
wanted to close my show) ryan seemed adamant with finding my "wheat"
cd. once he found it he put it in and played our favorite song "don't i
hold you." i was busy typing up a playlist, when ryan cued the mic and
informed the public they were listening to "in the hands of a half asian
and that he was about to do something that has never been done before and put
a ring on the hand of the half asian." i thought he was kidding and didn't
pay too much attention, so he quickly turned me around to face him and slipped
a ring on my finger. i think i asked him twice if he were kidding before i laughed
and said yes. following the proposal, ryan played "fell in love at 22"
